The Franklin Food Pantry released its Client Needs Assessment, a comprehensive overview of food insecurity in the Franklin community with recommendations to address the crisis. In 2021 and early 2022, the Franklin Food Pantry reviewed expert literature on food insecurity, conducted research among its current neighbors, interviewed community partners and assessed third-party data sources.
The Greater Boston Food Bank (GBFB), the largest hunger-relief organization in New England, awarded $13,831 to Franklin Food Pantry of Franklin to support its ability to combat hunger in the area, bolstering GBFB’s network of food agencies and advancing hunger-relief efforts across Eastern Massachusetts in response to an increased need for food in the state.
The Franklin Food Pantry announced two new members to its Board of Directors. Community Members Rachel Flum and Judith Perez have joined the FFP Board to further its mission to provide immediate hunger relief and healthy sustainable solutions to neighbors within the Franklin area. Additionally, Board members will guide The Pantry’s evolution of programming and services as it plans its relocation to 341 W Central St. Franklin, MA. Board member Chris Kilburn will now serve as Chairperson. Former Interim Chair, Jim Roche will continue to serve as Treasurer, and Suzanne Gendreau will continue her role as Clerk.
