(All shifts are filled! Thanks for the great response!)
Stamp Out Hunger is right around the corner, and we are currently looking for volunteers to help us organize all of the food that the Franklin Letter Carriers will bring us on May 14 as part of the national food drive sponsored by the National Association of Letter Carriers.
All food collected by the Franklin Letter Carriers is brought to the Franklin Food Pantry. The canned and boxed food donations from area residents supplement the fresh food that we need to purchase each month for our clients which is made possible through monetary donations.
We are in need of adult and youth volunteers to help unload the food donations from the mail trucks, date check and sort the items, then organize them by types of food. We have three shifts available:
11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
1 to 4 p.m.
4 to 7 p.m.
Feel free to sign up for one or more shifts. We need dozens of volunteers throughout the day to process the food that is collected. Volunteers will be scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis. Please complete our Sign-up Form and let us know what shifts you are available to help out. We will contact you to confirm your time and will provide additional information.
Thank you for helping us out!
The Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive is a nationwide effort organized by the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) that provides food to local food banks and pantries that would otherwise be faced with depleted stocks during the summer months. The food drive is the nation’s largest single-day drive, collecting almost 70.6 million pounds of food last year.
The Franklin letter carriers collected more than 9,229 pounds of food from area residents and delivered it to the Franklin Food Pantry in last year’s drive.
